Call alerts and the Home Screen app

Configure account alerts and device push, including installing FayVay on iPhone and iPad.

    Where to find it

    1. Dashboard
    2. Settings
    3. Notifications

Sign in to your account first

    In this guide

You can see incoming calls while FayVay is open; system alerts help you notice them outside the active page. Those alerts require permission and setup on the current device. Open Dashboard → Settings → Notifications. The account preference and device push are separate controls. Delivery and sound also depend on the browser, network and operating system. Installing the app does not guarantee that every call will be noticed.

    Before enabling push

    • Connect to the internet and sign in on the device that should receive alerts.
    • Check browser support; iPhone and iPad require a supported system and installed Home Screen FayVay.

    Example: a new phone

Push worked on your old phone, but the new phone shows calls only inside the site. Open settings on the new device, enable account alerts and device push, and allow the system request. The previous setup does not automatically transfer permission. Test one agreed call and check silent mode separately.

    Enable alerts on this device

    1. Check login and call availability

Sign in to the intended account. In Privacy, review Allow audio and video calls. System notification permission does not make disabled calls available. When changing accounts on a shared device, verify whose alerts you are configuring.

    2. Save the account preference

In Notifications, turn on Incoming call alerts and ringtone and select Save. This preference controls alerts and ringing rather than permission to place or receive audio and video calls themselves.

    3. Enable push

Under Incoming call alerts on this device, select Enable device push and respond to the browser prompt. If access was blocked earlier, change it in browser or system settings. Repeating the action does not necessarily produce a new permission prompt.

    4. Verify the result

After successful setup, Disable device push becomes available. Follow any warning about blocked permission or an unsupported mode. Configure another phone or browser separately: permission on one device does not enable all others.

    5. Try an agreed test call

With the other person’s agreement, try a single test call. Check both the open app and the case where it is not in the foreground. Select the notification and answer in FayVay if the call is still active. An old alert does not revive an ended call.

    Device differences

    iPhone and iPad

Push requires iOS/iPadOS 16.4 or later and FayVay installed to the Home Screen. Open the site in Safari, choose Share → Add to Home Screen, confirm, then open the FayVay icon and enable alerts inside that app. An ordinary Safari tab does not replace this step.

    Android

Allow notifications for the browser or FayVay in system settings. In Chrome or Edge, install using the offered action or browser menu. Firefox for Android uses its own ⋮ menu → Install or Add to Home Screen; the website cannot directly open Firefox’s native installation panel.

    Desktop

Use a supported browser and allow notifications for the site and browser in the operating system. Installation depends on the browser; the footer’s app block provides instructions. Configuring your work browser does not configure a home computer.

Sound, vibration and a closed app

Configured push can deliver an incoming-call alert while the app is closed; it does not automatically answer a call. Sound and vibration depend on alert volume, silent mode, Do Not Disturb or Focus, background restrictions and connectivity. Check those settings if alerts are quiet. A conversation still needs its own microphone and camera permissions.

    Managing alerts and errors

How do I disable only this device?

Select Disable device push. To change the account’s alerts, separately adjust Incoming call alerts and ringtone in Notifications and save. Check the intended account first when using a shared device.

How do I prevent calls entirely?

Open Privacy, turn off Allow audio and video calls and save. Disabling notifications changes alerts rather than preventing communication. Use blocking to restrict a specific account.

Permission is granted but alerts are missing?

Check the saved account preference, push-button state, system permission and device restrictions. On iPhone, confirm that you opened the installed icon. Retry later if the service reports an error; see Notifications not arriving for further checks.
