Audio and video calls in FayVay

Start or answer a call, control the microphone, camera and sound, and check availability settings.

    Where to find it

    1. Dashboard
    2. Messages
    3. Audio call / Video call

Sign in to your account first

    In this guide

Calls are available when signed in, when platform calling is enabled and when both participants’ preferences allow it. You need a supported browser over HTTPS, a connection and device permissions. Open a conversation under Dashboard → Messages: Audio call and Video call are in its header. They can also appear in a registered listing owner’s contact form. You cannot call yourself.

Example: camera blocked while audio works

You answer a video call but the camera cannot open. If both people agree, continue with audio, then review camera permission separately and select Enable camera. Use End call when you want to finish: stopping the camera does not end the conversation.

    Before your first call

    • Check the recipient, conversation and available actions. An available call button does not promise an answer.
    • In Settings → Privacy, enable Allow audio and video calls and save the choice.
    • Prepare your microphone and, for video, camera; check browser and operating-system permission.
    • Choose a quiet place, review your camera background and consider headphones when other people are nearby.

    Place and receive a call

    1. Start audio or video

In the intended conversation, choose Audio call or Video call. Allow the microphone and camera when needed. The call screen shows waiting or connecting progress. A new call can be unavailable while one of the participants is already in another call.

    2. Wait for an answer

Avoid starting repeated calls in quick succession. The recipient may be away, may have notifications disabled or may decline. Use End call to cancel the outgoing attempt. If a call has ended, check its state before placing another one.

    3. Answer an incoming call

The incoming screen shows the caller and call type. Answer accepts it and Decline rejects the attempt. Selecting a system notification opens FayVay. If the call has already ended, that old attempt cannot be answered; another conversation needs a new call.

    4. End the conversation

Use the red End call button when you want to finish. Turning off the camera or microphone does not end the call itself. A call entry can appear in the conversation with its status. That entry is a history item, not an audio or video recording of the conversation.

    Controls during a call

    Controls during a call
MicrophoneMute microphone and Unmute microphone control your outgoing voice. Check this button if the other person cannot hear you. Muting your microphone does not prevent you from hearing the other participant.
CameraIn a video call, you can stop or start the camera. If it is unavailable, the call can continue with audio and offer Enable camera to try again. The local preview shows your own camera image.
Speaker and playbackThe speaker button controls the other person’s sound in the call. If the browser blocks automatic playback, select Enable sound. Also check device volume and Bluetooth headphones: sound may be routed to another device.

    Desktop, mobile and notifications

The main actions are the same on desktop and mobile, with layout adapting to the screen. On mobile, check the browser’s system permissions. App switching and an unstable network can interrupt a conversation. Configure incoming alerts separately on every device if you need them while FayVay is closed. On iPhone and iPad, supported push requires a Home Screen web app. See the call-notification guide for setup details.

    Consent and privacy

Agree on the format and respect a refusal. Avoid showing documents, codes, payment details or other people without consent. The call interface does not offer recording, but this cannot guarantee that another participant will not make their own copy. End an unwanted call, block the account and submit a report if needed. Profile badges do not guarantee safe communication.

If a call does not connect

    The button is disabled?

Check your login, selected conversation, call preferences and blocks. Platform calling can be temporarily unavailable. A listing without a registered owner does not support every contact method. Messages can still work while calls are disabled.

    No sound or image?

Check microphone, camera and speaker controls, plus site and system permissions. Use Retry microphone, Enable camera or Enable sound when offered. Change one thing at a time and check its result before continuing.

    The connection dropped?

If a connection error appears, end the call, check the network and dial again. Try a more stable connection or audio instead of video. For repeated failures, provide support with the time, call type, devices and error text without private conversation content.
